Rwanda tourist visa — $50, or free for many nationalities
Rwanda's V1 tourist visa costs USD 50 for single entry (USD 70 multiple), applied online via Irembo or issued on arrival at Kigali. But check first: many nationalities enter Rwanda visa-free — all African Union, Commonwealth and Francophonie members, East African Community citizens, and a named country list — so you may not need to pay at all. The official cap is confirmed on migration.gov.rw: single-entry visa fees must not exceed USD 50.
| who needs it | Non-exempt nationalities only. AU / Commonwealth / Francophonie members get 30 days visa-free; EAC citizens 6 months; a specific list (e.g. Angola, Benin, DR Congo, Ghana, Mauritius, Seychelles) 90 days — those travellers should not pay for a visa. |

questions we actually get
- Do I even need to pay for a Rwanda visa?
- Often not. African Union, Commonwealth and Francophonie members, EAC citizens, and a named country list enter visa-free for 30 days to 6 months. Check your nationality before paying.
- Is USD 50 the real fee?
- Yes — Rwanda's own immigration page caps the single-entry visa at USD 50 (USD 70 multiple entry). Anyone charging more for the government visa is adding a markup.
